"Interestingness"

Img_8225acweb_2 So there's this ranking of photos on Flickr (a photo sharing community where I post some of my photos and exchange ideas, learning, etc. with other photographers) that they call "Interestingness." The top 500 ranked photos for "Interestingness" on any given day are in Flickr "Explore" - which is basically a feed of the top 500 photos.

I've been thrilled to have 20 different photos in Explore since starting on Flickr a few months ago. And today I discovered that one of my photos (the one of the funky grass on the left over there <----- ) made it to #4 in Explore. So wanted to take a moment to celebrate because it's totally not as cool as an Oscar or as easily defined as winning a million dollars, but it's still really neat!

Just wanted to get some shots of Olivia's dress. She was playing with Cinderella - she's riding on a motorcycle! Lately she's been smiling so big that her eyes are practically closed!

Taken in Olivia's room while we were playing around the same night as the bunny ears photo. No bunny ears involved in this one! Cross-processed with a girly pinkish cast since we are so girly retro-cool. Heh.

Got some sunset shots one night this week at the Lynnhaven Fishing Pier in Virginia Beach. Olivia seemed to have a real revelation when she realized that fish sticks are made out of fish!

"But Mommy, I don't want him to eat that fish," she exclaimed when she saw a fisherman catch a small white fish. Ah, another life lesson learned.

Things are looking up

  • Just a note: This doesn't mean we've decided who we'll vote for in 2008. But we're thrilled to see that Barack Obama has decided to run. We believe he has the potential to move the presidential race beyond, in his words, "divisive idealogical politics." And that would be a refreshing change, no matter who wins.
