Under the Influence

Over the past year or so, several of my CDs have made it into Olivia's room. One of her favorites for bedtime is a Christmas mix CD I made. Another favorite is an old Sarah McLachlan CD. A moment ago I went in Olivia's room to get her ready for a nap. I walked in to hear an unfamiliar song playing.

"That's Daddy's music," she said, "He let me borrow it."

It only took about 30 seconds to realize it was the new Jimmy Buffett CD. She is officially under the Buffett influence. Steve will be so proud.

"I absolutely love it, Mommy," Olivia told me. (Her version of absolutely is more like "absalutally.")

Fun!

Lily Love this album by Lily Allen. She was on Saturday Night Live a couple of weeks ago and the album definitely lives up to her two great performances. I do love British pop!

The free download at iTunes  this week - "The Guide" by Borne- is good, too. Sounds much like Coldplay.

And yes, I did download the "What Goes Around" video with Justin Timberlake and Scarlett Johansson. Had to know what all the fuss is about.

How does it know?

On the way to work this morning, the iPod was on shuffle in the car and it played four different Grammy nominees (from last night) in a row. I couldn't help but wonder if Apple had secretly put a chip in my iPod to make it do such things. How does it know? I wonder what the odds of that were - with over 400 songs on my iPod.

Things are looking up

  • Just a note: This doesn't mean we've decided who we'll vote for in 2008. But we're thrilled to see that Barack Obama has decided to run. We believe he has the potential to move the presidential race beyond, in his words, "divisive idealogical politics." And that would be a refreshing change, no matter who wins.
