The end is near

I put off writing this. But as the title suggests, Work It is coming to an end.  Official last day is Oct. 31

Work It was started because the dominating mom blogger voices of the time were those of the stay-at-home crowd. Not bad, just different. We were anxious to let our particular voices be heard.

In the past 5 + a little years (the lifespan of my youngest daughter!) we met some awesome moms and dads. For me each new contact, post and email added something to my life. I hope we added something to yours.

Love, luck and thanks to: our many contributors, our readers and the nice product people who gave us free and discounted stuff!

A personal shout out to the ladies of Old School Moms. You know who you are. You taught me that we can bond over the Internet. And that sharing our stories, tips & tricks, vents and support in this medium is one of the best ways to feel like part of the village.

And a Note from Amy...

I'm like the prodigal son returning from a journey. I've been out of the Work It scene for over a year now and so appreciate Laura picking up and providing the day to day support of the site.

My daughter celebrates her seventh birthday today. When she was born, my life obviously changed and as a working woman was profoundly changed. I felt my voice - our voice - was missing from the online world of motherhood. There was still so much pressure to stay home. And too many studies existed seemingly to prove that working outside the home would damage our children. Thankfully it seems to be getting better. Or maybe it's because we've been doing this a while and we've developed thicker working-mom skins. Either way, there is much more work to be done. Simply by standing up and telling our stories, we can shift a culture.

It's not easy balancing family life as a working mom. But we work hard on a daily basis to do so. Keep telling your stories. I hope the writers of Work It will continue to blog, write and share elsewhere. When we started we were incredibly unique. The best news is that there are other sites for working moms now.

Being a wotking mother and having children whether it is 1 or more it is hard. I am a mother of 2 and it is hard especially when toilet training. I hate to see ya go...hopefully someone will follow in your footsteps. Good Luck
